About the artist
The ballad about Mr. Fredrik Åkare and the sweet Miss Cecilia Lind is a ballad with lyrics by Cornelis Vreeswijk.
The melody is taken from the English folk song "Monday Morning" (which is largely based on the 16th-century song Scarborough Fair and the Scottish folk song The Elfin Knight).
The text revolves around love that arises between the older man Fredrik Åkare and the 16-year-old girl Cecilia Lind at a log dance. Despite moral concerns, they kiss each other and the text states that "love is blind".
Vreeswijk's lyrics were first performed in 1966 by singer Marie-Louise Jangsved at Liseberg Concert Hall. Later that year, Vreeswijk recorded the song himself on the LP Grimascher och telegram, together with Ann-Louise Hanson.
